Hello, ‘Twitter Crypto’—Twitter Launches New Dedicated Crypto Team

Twitter is launching a new division solely dedicated to “all things blockchain and crypto at Twitter.” Called Twitter Crypto, the team will mainly focus on developing solutions for crypto, decentralized applications (DApps), and decentralized finance (DeFi) with Tess Rinearson as the engineering lead.

Before becoming part of Twitter, Rinearson has worked with Chain.com, Cosmos, and the Interchain Foundation. In a thread, Rinearson expressed her enthusiasm for the project as well as what to expect from it:

She further explains that her team will concentrate on the blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and other decentralized technologies unnecessarily related to the financial domain. They also hope to improve the Bitcoin tipping platform Twitter launched in September and the proof-of-identity service through NFTs.

The Twitter Crypto Team, who will report directly to Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Parag Agrawal, is full-on support towards DApps, asset ownership, other identity-oriented solutions, and community building.

​However, as exciting as this news might come to crypto people, the camp of traditional Twitter investors think otherwise. Twitter shares have experienced a fallback, losing almost 25% in nearly 2 weeks. If this downward pattern continues, $TWTR could fall to $50 unless a recovery comes and bring the stock price back into the $55-$60 range.
